The unit has many electronic features and controls such as a full indicator and automatic defrost control. It also has an external drain connector, so you have the option of going bucket-free.

The Kenmore 53701 Dehumidifier is built for reasonably sized basements, and can remove up to 70 pints a day. It has electronic controls such as humidistat control. This unit receives complaints concerning the fact that it is noisy and it does not shut off.

The Kenmore 54701 Dehumidifier has a 70 pint per hour removal rate and a bucket capacity of 22 pints. Its electronic features include humidistat control and automatic overflow protection. This product is rated very low by most of those who have purchased it. Complaints vary widely, from the noise level to the price to problems with the cycling unit and other parts breakdown.

The Kenmore 5230 Dehumidifier removes as much as 30 pints per day with a bucket capacity of 21 pints. Its electronic controls include humidistat control as well as automatic overflow protection.

The general consensus on Kenmore seems to be that they do provide useful dehumidifiers but there are many problems with these. They are reasonably priced but they are not built with the specialized knowledge that you might get with other brands.
