LG Dehumidifiers

One of the best warranties available

LG was known as GoldStar in the 1950s, and it began by manufacturing Korea’s first radio. During the 1960’s GoldStar branched out into refrigerators, televisions, air conditioners and washing machines. It was the first Korean company to surpass $100 million in exports. Goldstar LG also manufactures dehumidifiers and boasts one of the best warranties in the business.

LG has a solid corporate profile and they make excellent electronics. They seem poised to take over the world of plasma television over the next couple of years. However, their knowledge of appliances may be weaker than their knowledge of electronics.

In general, LG’s line of dehumidifiers is not very highly rated by consumers. Some LG products that may warrant a closer look are listed here.

The biggest complaint about the LG DH404E Dehumidifier is the noise level. However, if you can tuck this away in the corner of a basement, it has a lot of features that make it worthwhile. It removes up to 40 pints a day, and it has some nifty electronic controls and neat feature that intermittently starts and stops the machine so you can have a break from the noise. In spite of the complaints, LG does promise quiet operation” on this unit. It has a beeper that tells you when the bucket is full – the kind of noise you might not mind.

The LG Goldstar LG LD65EL is a larger unit, a 65-pint dehumidifier with electronic controls, Energy Star rating and many other features.

Some other models that get low to middling ratings are the LG DH3010B, LG DH504EL and the LG DH304. Some of the complaints about these are that they do not last long and that they use too much energy.

LG’s line of electronics is generally well liked but its dehumidifiers leave a few things to be desired: durability, reliability and service.
